But as Christians, we are called to view our health through a different lens — one grounded in biblical principles for healthy living.


The Bible teaches us that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19-20). How we treat them matters, not just for our physical well-being but for our spiritual growth. In this article, we'll explore biblical principles for healthy living that encourage a holistic approach to health — one that is nourishing to body and mind in 2025.


1. Honouring God with Our Bodies: Nourishing Body and Mind in 2025


The Bible makes it clear that we are to honour God with our bodies. In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Paul writes:


"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honour God with your bodies."

This powerful reminder should motivate us to take good care of our physical health. Whether it's through exercise, nutritious food, or rest, we honour God when we treat our bodies with respect. God’s Word also provides wisdom for how we should care for our bodies through what we consume. In Genesis 1:29, God provided a variety of foods for nourishment:


"Then God said, ‘I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food."

This suggests that our diet should primarily consist of whole, natural foods. In our busy world, we often forget the importance of rest. However, God commands us to take regular rest to restore our bodies and souls. In Exodus 20:8-11, God commands us to remember the  the 7th day of the week the Sabbath and keep it holy:


"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is , and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it. '

Rest is not only vital for physical health but also for spiritual renewal. Incorporating regular moments of rest and reflection into your week will help you maintain a healthy balance in life. Following the biblical principles for healthy living means prioritizing rest, as it aligns with God’s perfect rhythm for our well-being.


4. Exercise as a Means of Stewardship: Strengthening the Body for Service


Scripture encourages us to be good stewards of the bodies God has given us. One way we do this is by maintaining physical strength and endurance. 1 Timothy 4:8 says:


"For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come."

"Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."

By prioritising spiritual wellness alongside physical health, we embrace the biblical principles for healthy living that God intends for us. A balanced life includes nurturing both the body and Mind.
